Looking to the future
Wilkin & Sons enters its next chapter with considerable strengths: an internationally recognised brand, a diverse Group, a successful farming business, deep roots in its community and an ownership structure that encourages a genuinely long-term outlook.
With current Group turnover of approximately £55m, Wilkin & Sons has an ambition to grow towards £100m over the next decade. The business is currently developing its strategy for how that growth can be achieved and where its resources and investment should be focused.
For Tiptree, there is potential to strengthen its position within the major grocery retailers, grow volumes and market share and build further on an established international presence that already reaches more than 60 countries. There are also opportunities to develop other parts of the Group, including farming, patisserie and the tea rooms, each with different potential for future growth.
Alongside these commercial opportunities, the Board is considering the longer-term requirements of its manufacturing operations. The historic Tiptree site has served the business for generations, but ageing assets and constraints on capacity and efficiency mean important decisions now need to be made about the manufacturing capability and investment required for the future.
